德闳所提倡的“全人教育”,是从身体、情感、智力和社交等不同角度,让孩子在各个方面得到发展,探索自我,挖掘潜能。我们希望从不同的角度来支持学生的全人发展。作为德闳“全人教育”的组成部分之一,上海闵行区民办德闳学校体育项目可以更好地提高学生的身体素养,培养合作、沟通、领导力等技能。

本学年,我们迎来了新任体育组负责人- 体育教学和体育比赛、活动等经验丰富的Paul Ifrim老师。

曾在英国、阿联酋和中国教授体育运动,对不同国家的体育教育有着丰富的经验;

曾经是一名专业的雪橇运动员,参加过2010年加拿大温哥华冬奥会。

就德闳体育的教与学,我们邀请Paul Ifrim老师进行了深度的交流。继上一期德闳体育的教学内容(《全人教育在德闳|体育系列*走近体育教与学》)后,他就家长们普遍关心的话题进行了分享和解答。下面就让我们跟随Paul Ifrim老师的视角,深度探究德闳体育的教与学!

Q1 在体育教学方面,中小学的侧重点分别是什么?

小学体育教学是一个由入门到熟悉的过程,主要是教授学生基本运动知识和发展他们的基本能力,例如运动能力和操作技能等等。在整个小学阶段,学生将通过接触篮球、足球、跳绳、体操、田径等运动项目,了解不同运动的特性和练习运动中涉及的动作,例如跑、蹦、跳、跨、扭、转、伸展、推、拉等等。

中学体育重在提高学生的运动知识和技能,我们会开设专项运动项目学习单元,每个单元我们为学生安排了一个月的学习时间。除了小学接触的运动项目外,还包括了健身操、手球、羽毛球、排球、乒乓球、垒球、曲棍球等,通过设置不同难度和挑战的任务,强化学生的各项运动技能。我们希望能够激发学生的运动热情,提高他们的学习体验,培养良好的生活习惯和健康的生活方式。

Q2 在体育课上,针对不同水平和身体素质的学生,我们如何实施差异化教学?

我们的老师具有丰富的体育教学经验,针对学生们的个性化问题,能够提供有针对性的解决方案,比如我们会根据学生的不同情况,调整对应的教学方式和内容,通过调整活动难度或者运动方式,引导学生多尝试,培养他们的自信心,在享受运动的同时取得进步。

学校还会定期为教师提供文化和专业素养的培训,不断提高老师的教学技能和终身学习能力,更好地为每一位学生服务。

Q3 我们如何安排体育活动和比赛?

目前,我们通过选拔,组建了运动校队,包括游泳队、男子篮球队、女子篮球队、男子足球队、女子足球队等。选拔的时候我们会从运动技能和身体素养多方面进行考察。比如入选学校的游泳队,二年级的学生需要掌握一定的游泳基础,至少会三种以上的泳姿;三年级及以上的学生需要掌握四种泳姿,并采用不同的泳姿,在对应标准时间内完成规定的距离。

每周启迪课时段内,进入校队的学生会进行一至两次的集中训练,之后可以代表学校参与校际间的友谊赛和联赛。这样能够充分调动学生的积极性,帮助他们不断提升自己的技能。

另外,我们也会组织学院之间的比赛,学生在赛场上努力拼搏,为自己的学院争取荣誉。这样可以更好地培养他们的团队精神、领导力和学院归属感。

通过启迪课,学生可以接触到更多的运动项目,包括轮滑、马术、网球、射箭、飞盘等等。我们力求为学生创造丰富多元的学习体验的同时,挖掘他们的无限可能。

Q4 我们如何评估学生的体育表现?

我们鼓励学生成为有信心、富有创造力和思考力的行动者,这也是我们评估学生学习成果的一项重要指标。我们的体育学习是系统全面且循序渐进的,根据阶段性的学习目标,每个月的教学重点有所不同,因此,老师除了参考学生现阶段的表现,还会结合以往的情况进行评估。除了运动能力,学生在运动过程中表现出来的合作、沟通、领导力等技能也是评估的重点。

对德闳而言,评估的目的并不仅仅是用来判断学生对于学习内容的掌握程度,更希望培养学生自主学习的意识。老师清楚地了解学生的学习情况之后,进而可以决定下一步如何教学。

Q5 在疫情影响下转为线上教学时,我们会做哪些调整来保证体育教学?

网课期间,对于小学部的学生,我们鼓励他们积极地参与到运动中,例如体重循环训练或单元相关的体育活动。今年四月份,德闳体育组的老师就在云端向大家发起运动小挑战,鼓励学生在家里进行锻炼,坚持运动,保持积极的心态,迎接每一天的到来。

对于中学部的学生,我们会略微转向理论性课题,例如制定膳食计划,了解热量和营养素在饮食中的重要性,通过对肌肉和骨骼系统的研究和讨论来了解身体是如何运作的,另外还会深入研究学习各项运动的规则等。

Q6 您能用一句话来描述我们的体育教学吗?

以学生为中心的包容性教学。

无论学生的表现力或适应力如何,我们希望能够支持到所有的学生。教学上,我们以学生为中心,根据他们的情况精心设计成长计划,不断培养和发展他们的技能。

作为一名教师,每当看到学生有一点点进步,我都会替他们感到高兴,我认为这是我的职业最有价值的一部分。我们希望可以帮助他们更好地融入社会,应对挑战,建立自信。

体育教育的真正价值和意义,并不仅仅局限于塑造强健的体魄,还包括健全心智和完善人格的培养。我们希望教会学生如何在规则的约束下拼搏,同时也会教会他们如何体面而有尊严接受失败,并为之继续努力和拼搏。

What Dehong advocates is the idea of holistic education, which lets the student develop and explore their own potentials from various perspectives, such as physical, emotional, intellectual, and social.

Last month, we introduced PE teaching at Dehong Shanghai (Approaching Our PE Series 1). We invited Mr. Paul Ifrim, Director of Sports, to have an in-depth interview on the issues that parents have always been concerned about. Q1What are the different emphases between elementary and secondary school in PE? 

A

The Elementary School PE allows students to learn through a comprehensive, sequentially planned Physical Education program. The emphasis is on developing fundamental locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative skills. Students will learn to demonstrate the qualities of movement as they perform a variety of fundamental locomotor and non-locomotor. All these aspects are applied through sports like Basketball, Football, Gymnastics, Athletics and many more.

The Secondary School PE is based upon acquiring knowledge and skills that are the foundation for engaging in physical activity. We aim to provide every student with various physical activities and challenges that will contribute to developing and maintaining their physical, cognitive, and affective well-being. Our mission is to empower all students to sustain regular, lifelong physical activity as a foundation for a healthy, productive, fulfilling life.

Q2How we implement differentiation instruction in PE for different students ?

A

With each unit and lesson, differentiated instruction has the focus of common outcomes, and is student-centered. Differentiation refers to the idea of modifying instruction to meet a student's individual needs and learning styles and this is what we aim to achieve so that all students can be successful through modified activities and using different equipment accordingly. It is designed to instigate multiple strategies impacting individual students while focusing on a common goal where everyone can make progress.

Q3How we organise sports activities and competitions?

A

For competitions and events, we are currently running a few school teams including Swimming, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Girls Football, Boys Football, ect. Regarding the tryouts, we will consider the related techniques and skills. For example, the selection criteria for swimming team would be swimming foundation with three styles required for Grade 2, and four styles and the results achieved within the stipulated time in fixed distance for Grade 3-5.

Every week, students selected in school teams will have 1-2 intensive training during Qidi. We aim to develop the students interests and provide them with the opportunities of participating in extracurricular activities. There will be friendly and league games offered at some point during the academic year as part of the programme. 

We have also started our inter-house competition calendar, where students are competing for their house with the intention of promoting students’ team spirit, develop leadership qualities and cultivate the students’ sense of belonging to a house.

Q4How is the assessment done in PE?

A

Assessment starts from the moment we plan our lessons. We support and motivate our students to become competent, confident, creative and reflective movers. We have a clearly defined and progressive programme, learning objectives, and each unit has a success criteria for each week depending on what the focus is. From there, teachers are approaching assessment holistically where they are not only considering the student’s ability to perform, but also taking into consideration their emotional needs and encouraging their participation, effort and collaboration.

Q5In the current epidemic environment, what adjustments we made to ensure PE for online learning?

A

The focus changes slightly depending on the year group for online learning. As an example, with Elementary School students, we try to keep them actively engaged as much as possible, through either body weight circuit trainings or unit related physical activities. As we move up to Secondary School, the focus will slightly shift toward more theoretical topics, such as being able to develop a meal plan and understanding the importance of calories and macronutrients in their diet, understanding how the body works by facilitating discussions and research time on the muscular and skeletal systems or by simply researching the rules of various sports which will contribute to the improvement of the subject knowledge.

Q6How to describe our PE programme?

A

Inclusive and student-centered.

Our programme aims to include and develop all students regardless of their ability to perform or their ability to integrate. It is student-centered because students can choose the right level of challenge and develop their skills accordingly in a well-planned and structured learning environment.

The value of physical education is not limited to shaping a healthy body, but also cultivate perfect personality. We teach students how to win under the constraints of rules, but also how to accept failure with dignity .
