The mid term assessment yesterday was not only useful for us as teachers to further gauge the students levels without written tests, but it was also very fun for the students. It was really great seeing all of grade 1 get so involved in all of their subjects in one place. I myself, got to see students interact in lessons that I wouldn't normally get so see and therefore seeing another side to that student.
A really great idea and a fantastically fun morning for the students!

The assessment was very successful yesterday, not only very effective but efficient. The kids had a lot of fun going to the different stations elevating any stress behind "assessment". I would definitely like to keep this process as a part of our routine however we could implement a time limit as some students may take up too much time trying to answer the questions thus holding up the whole process.
Overall, a great concept that worked very well!
At my station the students completed a reading assessment where they read sentences and matched them to the correct picture. It was fantastic to see the progress G1 students have made since the beginning of the school year. They have improved so much and should be very proud of themselves!

All the children came into the gym beaming with excitement, which is a wonderful change from what we tend to think about when we as adults think of assessment. The children were able to move freely and at each station, they were able to apply what they have learned in class. It was a warm environment where teachers were able to interact with children they might not normally get to see. I feel the assessment event was a great success and with a few additional considerations for timekeeping, I would look forward to this event in the future.
