上海市民办尚德实验学校:A Level 阅读节

三月是尚德融合部的艺术和读书月,当融合部的同学们徜徉在艺术的盛宴,沉浸于书本的启迪中, A Level 9A班通过阅读规划自己的未来,寻找自己的热情。  为了帮助同学们对于不同的专业领域产生初步的认识,逐步明确自己在十年级的选课方向,9A班在过去的一个月中,在校内外导师的合力帮助下,完成了以“热情引领前路”为主题的阅读节活动。

March is the Art and Reading Month for the Integrated Department of SSES. While many students were immersing themselves in the beauty of art and enlightenment of books, the students of A Level 9A were seeking their passions through reading. In the past month, with the help of mentors both inside and outside the school, they completed a reading festival with the theme of "Passion Leads ".

活动形式和目的 

Purpose of the Activity

本次阅读节活动中同学们按照自己未来可能会选择的专业方向分为6个小组,分别是:

Students are divided into six groups to research and learn about 6 majors. Through teamwork, they need to complete a group presentation to address six questions:

教育学 Education

经济学 Economics

艺术与设计 Art & Design

工程学 Engineering

材料科学 Materials Technology

生物学 Biology

同学们需要围绕六个引导性问题来对这个专业领域开展学习和调研:

什么是教育/经济/艺术/工程/材料/生物专业?

What is _______ major?

这个专业在英国大学的排名?

The rankings of this major in UK universities

在这个专业中需要学习哪些课程?

Curriculum modules of this major in UK universities

要在这个专业领域取得成果,需要具备什么能力和素养?

What personal qualities are essential for people to succeed in this field?

这个专业领域对于人类社会的贡献?

Contributions of this field to the human world?

这个专业领域未来可能的发展趋势?

Possible future advances in this field?

通过小组合作学习和探讨,同学们需要完成一个小组presentation来回答以上问题,录制成视频,发送给英国的导师和教授进行评分。

Each group needs to complete and record a group presentation, which will be sent to and evaluated by UK professors. 

小组学习探究 

Research and explore

在校内学科导师和英国导师的帮助下,每个小组都拿到了丰富的专业阅读材料,小组成员充分利用课余和晚自习的时间阅读学习,增加自己的知识储备。

在小组合作学习的过程中,小组成员们需要讨论最终呈现的内容和形式,并通过大学官网和专业资源网站搜索更多的资料作为补充。每个小组的学科导师充分参与到了这个过程中,为同学们提供了专业知识和演讲准备方面的辅导。

With the help of mentors, each group received ample professional reading materials. All groups started studying these materials to increase their knowledge in the particular field. During the collaborative learning process, group members needed to discuss the final content and format, and search for more materials as supplements through the university's official website and professional resource websites. Mentors also participated in group discussions to help. 

当所有的小组都确定了最后成果展示的形式以及重点内容后,便各自分工开始制作PPT和视频,这个过程的挑战性远超出了同学们的预期。好在每个小组都齐心协力地面对困难和挑战,在学科导师的帮助下,不断修改细节错误,精进PPT和演讲稿,最终六个小组都成功录制了精彩的成果汇报视频。

When working on making the PPTs, all groups have encountered challenges beyond expectations. Fortunately, each group worked together to face the difficulties and challenges, constantly modifying and improving the details of the PPT slides and speech scripts with the help of their mentors. In the end, all six groups successfully recorded excellent presentation videos.

互相学习 

Expand learning experience

在所有小组的演讲视频都录制完毕,并发送给英国导师进行审阅和点评后,每个小组成员针对自己演讲的部分,设计了题目,每个小组将题目整合成一张测试卷。全班同学一起观赏每一个小组的视频,在观赏的过程中通过完成测试卷,来检验自己的学习成果。

通过这个环节,同学们对自己演讲的内容进行了更深入的思考和审视,同时,作为出题人,同学们也收获了自信,因为每个同学就自己所演讲的部分都是班级里的权威和专家,只有自己学习到了高质量的新知识和信息,才有底气去考察别人。

After sending the presentation videos to professors in the UK, all groups have also designed a quiz paper. All the videos were played in the classroom and while watching, the students have to complete the quiz papers from the other groups. In this way, students have expanded their learning experience, gaining knowledge about the other majors.  

连线英国资深导师 

Connecting with UK professors

在3月30日晚上,9A班的同学与部分导师和家长们一起,与两位英国资深导师Dr. Daniel与Jessica老师进行了连线。

两位导师对每个专业小组的演讲视频进行了点评,在点评过程中两位导师对每个小组视频中的亮点都给予了肯定和鼓励,同时也精准地分析了可以改进的方面,导师们为自己小组的成员颁发了奖状。  在颁奖仪式后,两位导师带来了精彩的讲座,为同学们介绍目前英国大学申请的最新趋势,并给予了一些关于未来专业选择的建议。其中重点强调了希望同学们能不断致力于挖掘自己真正热爱的领域,并始终把取得优异的学业成绩作为首要任务。

In the evening of March 30th, along with mentors and parents, 9A connected with two highly experienced professors from the UK, Dr. Daniel and Jessica Li. The two professors offered feedbacks on the presentation videos. Mentors handed out Honor Certificates to their group members and afterwards, the two professors gave a lecture about the latest UCAS data, also providing advice on future course choices.

阅读节活动虽然告一段落了,但是A Level 9A班的“寻找热情”之旅并未停止。虽然同学们目前只有九年级,但是提早开始思考自己未来的专业和人生规划,是非常有必要的,因为这能帮助一个同学在平时的学习过程中拥有更强烈的目标感,明白自己今天所付出的努力,都是为了成就未来更好的自己。The activity has ended, but the journey for A Level 9A to seek Passion will last. Although they are only grade 9 students, 9A have already started contemplating and planning their future major and career choices.

活动感想

In this reading festival activity, I was really impressed by students' initiative and creativity when guiding them through research and presentations. The students have gained a greater understanding of the fields they have explored, and above all, they have derived confidence through teamwork. During the online connection, the UK professors provided constructive and accurate comments that made the students aware of areas they could improve. The students also learned about latest facts and professional insights regarding subject choice and college applications. As a mentor, I feel very proud to have witnessed my students’ growth and shining moments.

In the reading festival, I have gained a deeper understanding of the field of economics. Previously, I used to think that economics was all about making money, but now I realize it is not that simple and I am intrigued by the various aspects and possibilities of economics. Thanks to this new understanding of economics, I have also become more certain about my future direction and goals. There was a lot of work to be done during the activity, such as writing speech draft, reading relevant materials, making PowerPoint presentations, and recording the video. As a result, this activity has not only expanded my knowledge, but also helped me hone my time management and collaborative skills.

在本次阅读节活动中,作为材料科学组的组长,一开始我并不是太有信心,只想着要把这件事尽可能做好,于是我尽全力的协调所有成员,在组织各项工作的过程中锻炼了自己的时间管理和领导能力。在深入学习和研究的过程中,我接触到了许多关于材料科学专业领域的新知识。同时,我充分发挥了自己视频剪辑方面的能力,并且还得到了进一步的提升。如今我收获了更强的自信,我意识到了自己完全可以把“组长”的工作做得很好,这对我来说是一个很大的突破!

在这次阅读节活动中,我对教育学有了更深的理解和感悟。在系统的了解和学习后,我也懂得以后不能单单从表面上来看待一件事物。在探究的过程中,我还锻炼了自己的英文读写能力,学会在修改演讲稿时主动与老师交流。最后的成果包含了每个组员的努力,我们还特地设计了问题并采访了我们的老师。在与导师交流的过程中也学到了很多,比如讲稿要尽量精简并且尽量举例说明,参考资料一定要标注并且一定要用官方的网站查阅。

通过这次活动,我提升了自己的交流和团队协作能力,也磨练了自己的耐心和毅力。
