首届中国·贝赛思国际/双语学校南方演讲与辩论联赛

Last weekend, over one hundred BASIS students from across Guangdong competed in the inaugural BIBS · C Southern Speech and Debate Tournament at the BASIS International School Shenzhen campus. This is the first event of its kind for BASIS China and a testament to the network’s commitment to student growth and excellence. With representatives from all four southern campuses, the weekend featured competition in four unique events—extemporaneous speaking, impromptu speaking, original oratory, and public forum debate.

上周末，来自广东的百余名学生赴深圳贝赛思国际学校参加首届中国·贝赛思国际/双语学校南方演讲与辩论联赛。该联赛为中国·贝赛思国际/双语学校首届演讲与辩论赛事，成为了整个体系促进学生成长、追求卓越的有力证明。四所南方校区的全体参赛选手在即席演讲、即兴演讲、原创演讲和公开论坛式辩论这四类比赛中一展风采。

Topics ranged from the impact of social media on interpersonal communication to Middle Eastern politics to a slew of current events in China today. Hours of researching, writing, practicing, and speaking culminated in two days of critical thinking and expression. Students were challenged by the big questions facing their generation and asked to try to solve them. Speech and debate equips students not just with the skills to talk about the big questions but inspires a desire to ask them in the first place.

联赛选题涵盖社交媒体对人际交往的影响、中东政治、一系列国内时事等各类话题。通过数小时的研究、写作、练习和发言，同学们在两天的时间里进行了大量的的批判性思考并表达了丰富的个人观点，他们思考、讨论并尝试解决这一代人所面临的重大课题。演讲和辩论不仅帮助学生习得探讨重大论题的技能，而且激发他们提出这些问题的浓厚兴趣。

The tournament featured approximately 200 speeches, 67 rounds of debate, 20 finalists, and at the end of the weekend, four tournament champions. Congratulations to all of the students and coaches who participated.

经过200 场演讲、67 轮辩论的激烈比拼，20 名决赛选手脱颖而出，其中4名选手获得联赛冠军。祝贺所有参加本届联赛的学生和教练！
