七年级课题——荒漠求生

G7 Math Project — “Maximizing Area and Volume”

在此次的七年级数学课题中，老师们将烦闷的几何计算创新地融入了“荒漠求生”的情境中，让学生们积极探索如何使用有限的材料去制作最大容积的水壶，从而在沙漠中获得生存的希望。

在正式开展制作前，七年级的学生们通过一些简单的抽象几何运算来理解“最大体积”和“最大面积”的数学含义。之后，老师们设计了与现实息息相关的进阶问题，来帮助学生应用他们学到的几何知识并加强对最大化体积、面积的理解。最后，学生们通过小组合作、讨论和资源整合，挑战用现有的材料制作容器。

在整个过程中，学生们综合运用他们学到的几何知识，并不断改进他们的作品。最终以海报或者视频形式展现出一个个精美的创新成果。这一过程充分展示了他们的创造力、批判性思维和团队合作能力。

本次七年级创新课题不仅加深了学生对数学的理解，还帮助他们培养了重要的生活技能，如解决问题、沟通和协作能力。同时，该课题也旨在鼓励学生学会欣赏数学的价值和它在日常生活中的实际应用。

In this semester’s 7th grade math project, the teachers put the tedious geometric calculations into an innovative “desert survival” scenario, allowing students to actively explore how to use limited materials to create a maximum volume water bottle, with the aim of gaining hope for survival in the desert.

Prior to the formal production, the 7th graders worked through some simple abstract geometric operations to understand the meaning of “maximum volume” and “maximum area”. Afterwards, teachers designed realistic and advanced problems to help students apply their geometry knowledge and enhance their understanding of related mathematics concepts. Finally, students were challenged to create containers from existing materials through group work, discussion, and resource integration.

Throughout the process, students integrated their geometry knowledge and continued to improve their work. The final presentation was a beautiful innovation in the form of a poster or video. This process showcases their creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

The innovative project not only deepens our students' understanding of mathematics, but also helps them develop important life skills such as problem solving, communication and collaboration skills. Also, the topic was designed by teachers to further encourage students to appreciate the value of mathematics and its practical applications in everyday life.
