YWIES Port may usher in a "new era" in 2023 - the stadium is about to be completed! Recently, members of our YWIES NEW MEDIA community came to visit the gymnasium under construction. According to reports, the gymnasium will be completed in early September, when students can show their strengths. At the same time, YWIES advocates the concept of whole-person education. Since the establishment of the school, we have been especially encouraging students to actively participate in all kinds of physical exercise, because sports are very important in life. To live a happy life, you need to enjoy it with a healthy body, and you need to experience it with a healthy mentality. Therefore, it is also our expectation to use sports to make our lives happier and more interesting.

Since 2022, we have been planning the design of the gymnasium: you can see the gymnasium from the main entrance of the school, which gives people enough visual shock. YWIES gymnasium is not just a place for students to move, but also an open building. The gymnasium near YWIES is open to the community, and anyone who loves sports can come to the gymnasium. There are all kinds of facilities in the building, and the whole building uses many glass windows, to make the environment bright and comfortable. Of course, for loyal participants in ball games, there are two open-air courses here, which can meet the needs of different people. So, although it has not been completed yet, our expectations have reached its peak!

YWIES Stadium covers an extremely large area; the whole building is about 22 meters high. When you walk in through the gate, the first thing you see are the two main functional places on the first floor: the swimming pool and the basketball court. The swimming pool is 20 meters long, 25 meters wide and 1.9 to 2.1 meters deep. The men's and women's dressing room is next to the swimming pool on the first floor, which is very convenient. The basketball court is the standard size of the court, and most of the on-campus basketball games will also be held here. Next, let's take the stairs to the second floor, and what we will see is the public area and the facility reserve room. There is no functional place on the second floor, but the teachers' offices are on this floor. Then there are two functional venues on the third floor, namely the dance studio and the court. The sports theme of the court has not been determined. It may become a tennis court, badminton court, etc., depending on the expectations of the students. Finally, we come to the 4th floor where there are many functional places, including two gyms and an open-air basketball court. The total area of the two gyms is 24 square meters, which means that one gym covers an area of 12 square meters. At the same time, it is worth mentioning that starting from the public area on the second floor, YWIES specially built a large floor-to-ceiling window-style lighting facility. The sunlight received from the top floor shines directly through the large floor-to-ceiling window, providing the best lighting for students' sports time!

耀华体育"新时代"

临港耀华双语学习社区即将在本年度迎来体育“新时代”——我校大型综合体育馆即将完工！

近日，我们学生新媒体社团全体成员在华籍副校长Maggie校长的带领下，集体来到正在建造的体育馆进行参观。

据现场监理介绍，我们的体育馆将在今年九月初完工，届时，同学们就可以在崭新的体育馆里拓展自己的体育爱好、发挥自己的运动特长了！

一直以来，耀华都秉承全人教育的理念，体育也是其中十分重要的一环。建校以来，学校就鼓励同学们积极参加各种体育锻炼。运动，在生活中的重要性不言而喻——快乐的生活，要用健康的身体去享受，需要用健康的心态去体会。体育运动，让我们的生活变得更加丰富多彩。因此，长久以来，体育馆也是我们诸多耀华学子热烈期望尽快建成的校园设施。

而目今在建的体育馆定将不负我们的期待——学校在很早之前就在计划体育馆的设计工程。现在，在学校正门口就可以看到我们建设中的体育馆，超大的建筑面积也给人强大的视觉震撼。

而耀华的体育馆绝不仅仅只是学生的活动场所，它是一栋开放型建筑，是我们独特的学习共同体的重要设施。今后，我们的体育馆也将对全部临港耀华双语学习社区成员开放，任何热爱运动的人们都可以来此活动。

建筑内各种各样的设施一应俱全，整体使用了许多玻璃窗，这可以让体育馆得到更多的光亮，看起来更加通透、舒适。当然，对于球类运动的忠实爱好者，这里将有两个露天的球场，能够满足不同的需求。所以，虽然它还没有完工，但是我们的期望已经是达到了顶峰！

高规格体育设施

体育馆同样沿袭了我校设施设备先进一流的特点——它占地面积极大，整栋建筑地面部分共有四层，高约22米。

从大门走进时，首先将看到的是1楼的两个主要功能性场所：游泳馆和篮球场。

篮球场是标准的比赛场地尺寸，今后，大部分的校内篮球比赛也将在此进行。游泳馆长20米，宽25米，深1.9～2.1米。男、女换衣间就在游泳池的旁边，十分方便。

来到2楼，则是公共区域和设施储备室，以后部分办公场地也将集中在这一层。3楼则有2个功能性场所，分别是舞蹈室和球场。球场的运动主题未定，可能会作为网球场、羽毛球场等。4楼的功能性场所较多，有2个健身房和1个露天篮球场。

值得一提的是从2楼的公共区域开始向上延伸，我们特地建造了一个大型落地窗样式的采光设施。从顶楼接收到的阳光透过落地窗直射进来，为学生的体育活动提供最佳采光！

相信待体育馆落成投入使用后，定会为我们学校的体育教学与运动特色增光添彩！

体育教学在耀华

自创校以来，临港耀华双语学习社区一直都十分重视体育教学，体育——是我们实现全人教育目标的重要一环。

因此，我们拥有专业资深的中外籍体育组教师，他们中既有专业的国家级运动员，也有教学年限超过30年的师者。而他们也为耀华学子带来多元化的体育课程。

在中小学课程以及CCA联课活动中，学校开设了大量体育科目供学生选择；日常教学中，也安排了专门的户外活动时间。

此外，学校还特设了篮球、足球、排球、羽毛球、飞盘等多个校队组织；并且定期举行运动会、越野项目、野外徒步、学院运动竞赛等专属体育活动。

通过这一系列精心设计的体育项目，我们希望能够最大程度地帮助学生：

▪ 提升身体素质和健康意识：

我们注重培养学生的身体素质，通过体育教学和校园体育活动来增强学生的体质和身体协调能力。同时，学校也注重提高学生的健康意识，让学生养成积极健康的生活方式。

▪ 培养体育技能和竞技能力：

耀华的体育教学注重培养学生的体育技能和竞技能力，让学生能够掌握多种体育项目的基本技能和战术，具备参加各类体育比赛的能力和素质。

▪ 发展团队合作和领导能力：

此外，我们也注重发展学生的团队合作精神和领导能力，让学生能够在体育比赛中积极协作、互相支持，锻炼自我管理与领导力等受用终身的技能。
