2022 New Year Speech of Huijia Education Institution

亲爱的汇佳学子、家长朋友、教育同仁们：

Dear students, parents, and colleagues：

值此元旦之际，我谨代表汇佳学校、汇佳幼儿园、汇佳职业学院和汇佳新加坡汉合国际学校祝大家新年安乐，万事遂意！

On the occasion of the New Year, on behalf of Huijia School, Huijia Kindergartens, Huijia Vocational College and Hillside World Academy in Singapore，I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year!

回忆过去这一年，剧烈的变革在各行各业涌动。疫情的反复，让每个人都学会了如何在变化中适应生活。“双减”等各项教育改革政策的重磅出台也给学校和不少家庭带来巨大影响。对此，我也想分享一下自己的观点。

Looking back on this past year, dramatic changes surged through all walks of life. The recurrence of the COVID-19 epidemic has taught everyone how to adapt to life amidst changes. The introduction of various education reform policies, such as the “double reduction”, has also brought a huge impact on schools and lots of families. In this regard, I would also like to share my own views.

首先，改革是势在必行的。自工业革命以来，学生像流水生产线上的产品一样被标准化教育抹杀了自己的独特性，课外补习的产业链因资本的涌入而变形，“内卷“给不少学生和家庭带来的巨大的压力和影响。“双减”政策的实施，不仅仅意味着减轻校外课业负担，更意味着注重校内教育教学质量提升、学生综合素质养成、学生个体成长发展、自主学习能力培养、家校协同育人等等，学生、家长、教师、学校各方承担起应有的责任，让教育回归本真，回归到学生全面健康的发展上来，这是非常好的一个导向。

First, reform is imperative. Since the industrial revolution, students have been like products on an assembly line, and the standardized education has erased their uniqueness. The industry chain of extracurricular tuition has been deformed by the influx of capital, and the “rat race” has brought tremendous pressure and impact to lots of students and families. The implementation of the “double reduction” policy does not only mean reducing the burden of extracurricular work, but also means focusing on the improvement of the quality of education and teaching in schools, the formation of students’ comprehensive qualities, the development of individual students, the cultivation of independent learning ability, the collaborative education of parents and school, etc. Students, parents, teachers, and schools should assume their due responsibilities, so that education can return to the original simplicity and to the overall healthy development of students. This is a very good start.

其次，对于“让教育归回本真”这件事，汇佳从1993年建校以来就一直坚定在做，无论是“学科、艺术、体育”的三大学科支撑，还是尊重每个学生的差异，从课程、师资、学习路径、成绩评估等各个维度支持学生个性化发展，都是学校全人教育理念的具体实践。28年里，从3000多名毕业生的身上，我们很欣喜地看到了学校的办学成果，更感受到了每个孩子都有自己独特的成长故事。

Secondly, Huijia has been insisted on “making the education back to its original simiplicity” since the school was founded in 1993. From supporting the three major subjects of “academic subjects, arts and sports”, respecting the differences of each student, to facilitating the personalized development of the students from multiple dimensions such as curriculum, teachers, learning paths, performance assessment, etc., all of these are our practices of our education idea “holistic education”. In the past 28 years, we have witnessed more than 3,000 graduates from the school, and we are pleased to see the results achieved by the school, as well as to feel that each child has his or her own unique growth story.

在过去的一年里，汇佳教学成绩斐然。毕业生被牛津大学、帝国理工学院等众多名校录取；文科、理科、艺术三大方面大满贯；IB统考中2位同学获得45分满分，20位同学获得40分以上好成绩；文凭通过率100%……可以说，这次“双减”的大政策，一定程度上是对汇佳长期坚持的教育理念的认可和背书，让汇佳也将在“打造生态教育”这条路上走得更加坚定。

In the past year, Huijia has achieved great results in teaching. Our graduates were admitted to lots of famous schools such as Oxford University and Imperial College; the grand slam in Arts, Science, and Arts; 2 students got 45 full scores in the IB global examination and 20 students got above 40 points ; the pass rate for the diploma is 100% ...... We can say that this “double reduction” policy is, to a certain extent, a recognition and endorsement of Huijia's long-standing educational philosophy, which will strengthen Huijia commitment on walking more firmly on the road of “building ecological education”.

在未来，汇佳将坚持两个大方向。第一，持续创新，推进个性化教学，结合互联网大数据技术，更加充分地挖掘每个学生的优势，并利用“科研驱动”、“项目式教学”、“自主学习”等多种手段，为每个孩子提供更加宽广的成长空间。培养学生的自主学习能力，内驱力将永远是教育不变的核心。第二，坚持“怀祖国心，做世界人”的育人目标。“怀祖国心”：坚持立德树人、培养学生德智体美劳全面发展；“做世界人”：充分尊重每个学生的个性特点，努力拓宽学生国际视野，培养具有全球胜任力、能够中西融会贯通、自由行走于世界的国际型人才。

In the future, Huijia will adhere to two major directions. First, we will continue to innovate, promote personalized teaching, combine the data technology, more fully explore the advantages of each student, and make use of lots of approaches such as “research-driven”, “project-based teaching”, “independent learning” to provide a broader space for each child to grow, as well as cultivate students’ independent learning ability because the internal motivation will always be the core of education. Secondly, we insist on the goal of education “cherish the motherland and be a global citizen”, in which the “cherish the motherland” is to strengthen moral education and cultivate students, as well as drive the development of the students in the moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and all-round aspects; and “be a global citizen” refers to fully respect the individual characteristics of each student, to broaden students’ international vision, and to cultivate international talents with global competence, to integrate East and West cultures, and to travel freely in the world.

自1993至今，汇佳在风风雨雨中走过28年，即将迎来30岁的生日。30岁，正值人之壮年，在摸爬滚打中初步体会人生奥义；而对以百年计的学校来说，30岁还仍是稚嫩的儿童。

Since 1993, Huijia has gone through 28 years of hardship, and is about to celebrate its 30th anniversary. 30 years old is the age when people are in the prime of life, and they are experiencing the mystery of life in the initial stage; but for a school which is “Education of the people takes a hundred years to bear fruit”, 30 years old is still a young child.

古人云：“逝者如斯夫，不舍昼夜”。站在时代洪流之上，面对不确定性，汇佳仍会坚守初心，坚持走在教育改革前沿，助力每个孩子的健康成长。

As the old saying goes, “Time is going on like the river flowing away endlessly day and night”. Standing on the flood of the times and facing uncertainties, Huijia will still stick to its original intention, insist on walking at the forefront of education reform, and help every child grow up healthily.

新的一年，汇佳继续“追本求真，适变鼎新“，坚持“个性化教育”，脚踏实地实现“尊重差异的生态未来型学校”教育蓝图，让每个孩子在此都能找到自己的热爱与舞台，面对纷繁复杂的未来变化，永葆一份自信与从容。

In the new year, Huijia will continue to “pursue the essence and seek the truth, adapt to the changes and make the new”, insist on the “personalized education”, and realize the educational blueprint of “ecological future-oriented school that respects differences” on the ground, so that every child can find his or her own love and stage, and face the complicated future changes with confidence and ease.
