自接连两枚伯克利音乐学院的录取花落上海德英乐学院以来，对音乐感兴趣的同学们也相继奔赴而来。在今天的分享中，音乐老师Ms. Groves给大家实用的音乐学习技能：

Since two SDA students were admitted to Berklee College of Music, students interested in music have also come to our school one after another. In today's sharing session, our music teacher Ms. Groves shared her practical music learning skills with everyone present.

＂The excellent musicians at our school play an active part in the music department, from studying IGCSE/AS/A Level Music, to performing at school events, to being members of our school Concert Band and Choir. If you would like to improve your musical skills, or start to learn a musical instrument, here are my top tips for success:

“我们学校的音乐家们各个优秀，从学习IGCSE/AS/A Level音乐课程，到参加学校活动表演，再到成为学校音乐会乐队和合唱团的成员，他们活跃在音乐部的各个角落。如果你也想提高自己的音乐学习技能，或准备开始学习某种乐器，不妨看看我的建议：

Find an instrument you love! Try lots of different types of instruments and pick the one you think is the most fun to play. You can come to the music room to try lots of different instruments and Ms. Groves will help you to find one you like!

找到一个你喜爱的乐器！先尝试各种各样的乐器，然后挑选一个你最感兴趣的。你可以来音乐室尝试下不同的乐器，Ms.Groves会帮你找到适合你的那个乐器！

Find some music that you enjoy playing. You will need to play your instrument to improve, so it is important to find music that you like to practise, whether it is a classical piece or the melody from your favourite pop song.

找到一些你喜欢弹奏的音乐。你需要通过不断地练习来提高自己的音乐技巧，因此，找一些你喜欢的音乐作为练习材料尤为重要，无论是古典乐还是你喜欢的流行乐，都是不错的选择。

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, learning an instrument takes a long time so don’t get worried if it takes you some time to learn a piece of music.

不要给自己太大的压力，学习一门乐器需要长时间的沉淀，所以在你花大量时间学习一段音乐时，不要太过焦虑。

Make sure you make time to practise – the more you practise, the better you will become!

确保留出充足的时间练习——练得越多，进步越大！

Join Concert Band or Choir at school – these clubs are for everyone, no matter how long you have been playing for. Playing with other people is one of the best ways to improve, and it is fun!

加入学校的音乐会乐队或合唱团——这些社团面向所有在校生，无论你学过多久的音乐都可以加入。和他人一起弹奏乐器也是一种提高音乐能力的有效方式，并且这个过程十分有趣！

If you can play an instrument already, consider studying IGCSE/AS/A Level Music at school/ You will get time to practise and perform on your instruments, write your own music, and learn more about different types of music from all around the world.

如果你已经会某一种乐器，可以考虑学习学校的IGCSE/AS/A Level音乐课程。你将有充足时间练习并演奏乐器，创作属于自己的音乐，学习世界各地不同风格的音乐。

希望选修音乐学科的同学们在暑期多练习，同时也希望对音乐感兴趣的同学根据自己的兴趣爱好进行音乐熏陶，在开学后可加入合唱团、乐队，继续音乐热爱之路！

We hope students who have chosen Music as an elective course can practice more during the summer vacation and students who are interested in music can prepare well based on what you enjoy, and join Concert Band or Choir at school next semester to fuel your passion for music!

从幼儿园起，我一直在坚持学习打击乐器。我喜欢演奏不同节奏的旋律，那些节奏极具表现力。成为一名演奏家，加入管弦乐队是我未来想做的事情。今年，我参加了一项国际赛事，2021国际青年打击乐手南方打击乐大赛。参加这项比赛对我来说是一次提升自我的好机会，我可以参加一些大师级音乐课，从评委的点评中不断进步。此外，参加学校的音乐课也是我学习音乐的一个重要部分，因为音乐课有助于我拓宽知识面，例如：学习西方音乐背景知识，了解世界各地不同的音乐风格等。

I’ve been learning percussion for many years since kindergarten. I enjoy playing the melody line with different rhythm patterns which are really expressive. Being a performer and joining an orchestra is what I want to do in the future. This year, I entered an international competition, The Southern Percussion Competition for Young International Tuned Percussionists 2021. This was a good opportunity for me to enhance my skills such as to attend some masterclasses and to perform better from the comments of judges. In addition, taking the music class in school is an important part of my musical studying because it expands my scope of knowledge extensively, for example, learning the background of western music and about music from various regions of the world.

I’ve been playing piano for 11 years. Although I didn't make the decision to start playing piano  when I was young, it didn't take long for piano to become an interest that I was willing to spend a lot of time with. I really like the piano as an instrument and also enjoy playing it mainly because of the sound and feeling it can produce. It can sound fleeting and passionate in one moment, and then gritty and powerful in the next. Also, there are few other instruments that have anything close to the range of the piano both tonally and dynamically which allow the piano to express to a greater extent the feelings that the composer wants to express. For example, in the Chopin Ballades and Nocturnes which I really like, the melodic line played on the piano is more like a vocalist telling stories using the voice. On the contrary, in Beethoven's piano sonatas, the piano becomes so strong and powerful. A piano is like a whole orchestra for Beethoven. For example, the top part can be imagined as the oboe playing the main melody, the middle part of the voice can be imagined as two violas playing the accompaniment, and the lower voice represents the double base for example. However, to keep in mind, all of those voices are played on a single instrument, which is the piano. That’s absolutely amazing and also a reason why I enjoy it so much. I haven't decided if I want to pursue piano performance in the future, but I always urge myself to practice a lot in order to achieve a more professional level. It’s such an honor for me to play the amazing works composed by so many prestigious composers in the history. I started to try composing last year, and this is most likely the direction I want to study afterwards. Try to express thoughts through music sounds exciting to me. I applied for NYU Tisch Summer High School Recorded Music this summer and was awarded a place. During the  program, I will study how music is recorded, produced, and distributed to consumers, and also learn how music companies are conceptualized, created, and grown as well as how new technologies are changing the way we hear music. The content covered in the NYU program are things that I’ve never learned before but I think it’s always helpful to explore more things in music before I’m pretty sure what I would like to do in music in the future. The music I study in school has really helped me a lot. I had the pleasure to work together one-on-one with Ms. Groves. Over the past year, I have learned a lot of musical terms, which has allowed me to use a more precise vocabulary when analyzing and expressing views on music. By learning the music from Baroque Period to the 20th-century music, I learned a lot about musicians with unique styles that I didn't know much about before and started to appreciate them. 

同学们将有机会登上SDA大舞台展示，除了常规的校内活动，例如：开学典礼、达人秀、音乐会、结业典礼等，还有德英乐教育集团25周年校庆活动，同学们将走进上生新所，在哥伦比亚俱乐部的大舞台上尽情演绎。敬请期待！

Students will have opportunities to perform on the SDA stage for some regular school events, for example, school opening ceremony, talent show, concert, school graduation ceremony, etc. Besides, the 25th Anniversary of DTD celebration activities will be held in Columbia circle, where students will perform on the big stage at the Columbia club.
