G1 循环利用超人时装秀

Recycled Superhero Costumes

The recycled outfit superhero event for grade 1 was a smashing success! The event was held in school, where children had the opportunity to showcase their creative talents by making their own superhero costumes using recycled materials. The atmosphere was electric as the children excitedly showed off their costumes to each other. There were capes made from old bags and paper, masks made from cardboard, and even superhero belts crafted from old art supplies. The event ended with the children talking about what they had learned in the unit. It was a fun and educational event that taught children the value of recycling while encouraging their creativity.

一年级的循环利用超人时装秀在学校内成功举办啦!在这个活动中,孩子们有机会展示他们的创造才能,使用回收材料制作属于自己的超级英雄服装。孩子们兴奋地互相展示他们的服装,气氛非常热烈。这里有用旧袋子和纸做的斗篷,用硬纸板做的面具,甚至还有用旧艺术用品做的超级英雄腰带。活动结束时,孩子们互相讨论了他们在活动中学到的东西。这是一个既有趣又有教育意义的活动,不仅教会了孩子们回收利用的价值,同时还鼓励了他们创造力的提升。

G2 动物保护展览

Humans Responsibility to Protect Animals

As a part of VSP’s Science Fair second grade created an interactive exhibition. Decorating the second floor lobby with projects from the unit, they invited kindergarten and first grade learners to come and learn more about sharing the planet.

There was trash up-cycled into thoughtful awareness projects, dioramas of animal habitats marked in some way by humans, and the final projects - handmade informative books, made in small groups featuring illuminating - and often times, startling - facts about endangered animals. Many books also highlighted the learners’ art skills with beautiful illustrations.

作为 VSP 科学展览会的一部分,二年级也举办了互动展示。他们用这一单元的内容装饰了二楼大厅,还邀请了幼儿园和一年级的学生来学习更多关于共享地球的知识。

学生们用会收到的材料制作成了令人深思和关注的项目、动物栖息地的立体模型及对于濒危动物介绍的小组作品,很多介绍书的制作展示了学生们的艺术素养。

These wonderful VSPers relayed this important information to their younger counterparts. They also shared their love of inquiry based learning, by encouraging their guests to inquire further into the endangered animals, by taking part in the multitude of activities designed by second grade. There was a fishing for trash game, a recycling activity, a colouring for a cause station, a habitat sorting activity and even an animal art area. The latter being the most popular of all, the children were able to adorn their hands with colourful animal art! It was a fantastic Science fair! Memories were made and knowledge was shared. Students the spirit of IB lifelong learners alive by asking our second graders how they have found - through careful research and reflection - we can best share the planet.

G3 模拟医院

Mock Hospital

During Science Week, our grade 3 students had an exciting and educational experience as they became doctors in a mock hospital. Other students from different grades visited as patients, immersing themselves in a lifelike medical environment. With enthusiasm and expertise, our grade 3 students showcased their knowledge of medical conditions, symptoms, preventions, and ways to stay healthy. They even measured patients' heart rates, height, and temperature, adding realism to their interactions. This engaging activity deepened their understanding of the human body and healthcare, empowering them to control their health. It was an outstanding experience that demonstrated their commitment to learning and their ability to educate others fun and interactively.

在科学周期间,我们的三年级学生也拥有了一段令人兴奋又具有教育意义的经历。他们在一个模拟医院成为了医生,并且其他来自不同年级的学生也会作为病人前来参观,让学生们沉浸在一个栩栩如生的医疗环境中。我们的三年级学生用他们的热情和专业知识,展示了他们在医疗条件、症状、预防措施和保持健康的方法的知识。他们甚至测量了病人的心率、身高和体温,增加了他们之间互动的真实性。这种参与性的活动加深了他们对人体和医疗保健的理解,使他们能够控制自己的健康。这是一段非常难得的经历,表明了他们对学习的投入和充满趣味互动的教育他人的能力。

G4 “太阳能烤箱”实验展示

Solar Ovens

In an exciting display of scientific exploration, fourth-grade students recently embarked on a unique Unit of Inquiry (UOI) experiment. Armed with creativity and cardboard pizza boxes, these young scientists ventured into the world of solar energy. Their mission? To transform light energy into thermal energy using homemade solar ovens. With diligent teamwork and resourcefulness, the students ingeniously constructed their solar cookers, carefully aligning foil reflectors to capture and concentrate sunlight. As the day progressed, anticipation filled the air as they placed delicious s'mores inside their ingenious ovens. With smiles on their faces, the children witnessed firsthand the magical transformation of light energy into comforting warmth, relishing in the sweet success of their solar cooking adventure.

VSP celebrated the Sixth 2023 Science Week from May 15-19, and our students were involved in a series of activities with a focus on research methodologies and scientific presentations.

THEME: Butterflies ≡ Batteries

The idea of combining Chemistry, Physics, and Biology with nature, teaches us that the bond between them is stronger like a triple bond (≡)! You cannot separate science from daily life 24x7.

Reason for choosing the theme is to sensitize our students to be responsible in their social life by risk-taking efforts to solve relevant issues with highest possible creative skills within them.

浦东万科学校(VSP)于5月15日至19日举办了2023年第六届科学周活动。我们的学生参加了一系列以研究方法和科学展示为重点开展的活动。

自然界中,化学、物理和生物之间的链接如同化学键一样,紧密联系;生活中,我们也无时无刻不与科学联系在一起。这个主题设计,旨在鼓励学生利用他们颇具创造力的方式,充满勇气地解决相关问题,坚定地承担起相应的责任。

As budding scholars, students were asked to create a scientific presentation of their choice with a possible research attitude and then to produce them in the event. They performed with utmost sincerity and shared their thoughts and outcomes of various scientific models that would cater humanity with futuristic approach.

作为有一定科学基础的初中学生,学生在科学展活动中需要有乐于钻研的学术态度对项目进行研究,然后再进行科学性演讲。他们站在人类发展的未来角度,真诚地为听众展示着多样的模型。

While science fairs are an extensive process, they help develop various skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, and communication by applying the principles of the scientific method.

科学览的项目设计广泛,但科学原理的研究和科学方法的运用,有助于培养学生批判性思维、解决问题、时间管理、沟通等各种技能。

Puzzles help develop reasoning skills and problem-solving capability of children. They increased awareness in their mind to equip themselves to be proactive in their professional carrier. They improve their attentiveness in sharpening their memory in these ‘Chatgpt’ dominating era where this technology tries to shun human efficiency.

We have conducted the puzzle contest in two rounds. For grade 6, the topic was “Cells”, for grade 7 the topic was “Solar System” and for grade 8 and 9, the topic was “Heart”. Interestingly few teachers also came forward to solve difficult puzzle challenges and they said it was a thrilling experience!

拼图有助于培养孩子的推理能力和解决问题的能力。这提高了学生们在学习生涯中积极主动的意识。在这个人工智能日新月异,并向人类各行业发起挑战的时代,这样的记忆力比拼的活动也可以提高学生注意力。

经过初赛选拔,最后各年级在决赛中一决高下。六年级的主题是“细胞”,七年级的主题是“太阳系”,八年级和九年级的题目是“心脏”。有趣的是,有老师也主动参与到这个挑战中,他们说这是一次令人兴奋的经历!

The primary goal of our quiz program is to develop the spirit of participation and secondly, to encourage every student for a wider reading. This develops curiosity and makes them to explore knowledge from various resources. Further it creates a sense of searching and inquiry. The highlight of this quiz contest is to impart knowledge through fun filled MCQs from ecology and the environment, space science, physics, chemistry, and biology. Students were filled with humor and at the same time thoughtful to give the right answer.

科学答题赛的主要目的是发展学生参与精神;其次,鼓励每个学生进行更广泛的阅读。这培养了他们的好奇心,使他们从各种资源中探索知识。此外,创造了一种搜索和探究的氛围。本次问答比赛的亮点是通过充满乐趣的生态与环境、空间科学、物理学、化学和生物学的 MCQs 传授知识。学生们充满幽默的同时又深思熟虑地给出了正确的答案。

Every science fair brings great excitement to students as it gives them opportunity to think beyond their existing knowledge. They produce undeniable scientific craftsmanship showing us what the future will be with their contribution for a better lifestyle. Beyond the classroom learning these science fairs seeds in the spirit of a scientist allowing their thought process to expand for new horizons. Science fairs help to form a healthy competition between individual and group to strive for more performance.

学生们每一次都激动而又热情地对待科学周活动,因为这给了他们机会去思考并超越他们现有的知识。他们创造了不可否认的科学技能,向我们展示了自己如何为更好的未来生活所做出的贡献。在课堂之外,这些科学周活动让学生内心的是“科学种子”生根发芽,鼓励他们开拓新的视野。科学周活动有助于个人与团体之间形成良性竞争,展现出不一样的自我。
