新学期康德双语学校又有哪些坚守与改变？

临近8月底，上海各校都在为迎接开学而积极准备中。对于康德双语来说，这一整个暑期都在围绕下一学年的各项工作而进行筹备，无论是从管理队伍、教师职工的团队合力，还是从硬件设施以及安全服务的体系升级，康德双语都可以信心满满地向学生和家长宣告：万事俱备，欢迎归校！

It is time when all schools in Shanghai are preparing for the new semester, and SCBS had been setting up for the upcoming academic year throughout the summer. We can confidently assure our students and parents: we will offer you the warmest of welcomes back to the campus, we are really looking forward to seeing you after the summer break!

在上学期末，我们报导了康德双语新任执行校长柯韩力的到来。在过去的一个多月中，柯校长与各学部的分管校长就目前康德双语的良好发展和未来目标进行了总结和探讨，且将在这学期中沿着明确的方向付出努力并同时探索新的尝试。

At the end of last semester, we welcomed our Executive Principal, Dr. Oliver Kramer (click here for the article). Over the past month, Dr. Kramer has been working closely with other members of the Executive Leadership Team on the further development of the school, and the team will explore more innovative approaches that are beneficial for SCBS.

坚持初心，不忘办学之本

8月中，康德双语的新老教师齐聚汝南街校区进行了开学前的集中培训。在培训期间，学校的荣誉校长谢应平、法人校长尹丽君、执行校长柯韩力以及副校长潘文光分别就新学年的展望做了致辞。同时，我们的好朋友，远在英国的康德学院全球校长Neil Hawkins也通过视频的方式发来他对上海康德双语学校全体团队的祝福。

谢校长和Neil不约而同地提到了有关学校教育理念的共通点，这些观点不仅仅是几个字、几句话，而是真正实践在每一天的日常教育工作当中。

In the middle of August, all of the new teachers came to the Runan Campus and participated in training sessions. Our Honorary Principal, Mr. Xie, Legal Principal, Ms. Yin, Executive Principal, Dr. Kramer and Vice Principal, Ms. Pan all gave uplifting speeches to all staff. At the same time, our dear friend, Mr. Neil Hawkins, Global Principal of Concord College International, also sent his warm wishes to SCBS through video.

Both Mr. Xie and Mr. Hawkins shared their interpretations of the philosophy of education, which is practised in SCBS’s daily teaching.

今年9月，学校即将迈入办学的第五个年头。回顾我们在创校时遇到过的艰难困苦，为学校能有今天的发展感到由衷的高兴。社会正在飞速发展，教育也要与时俱进，但作为学校和教育者，我们必然也有我们要始终坚守的，以不变应万变的地方，尤其是与康德双语办学相关的立足之本——我们的教育理念。

其一，康德双语学校致力于培养身心健康、德才兼备的学生，也就是我们的培养目标。其二，康德双语的办学目标，是打造成为一流的双语、双文化的融合型学校。同时康德的校名中有“实验”二字，我们要探索一条不一样的路。其三，康德双语的三字核心价值观就是：和、信、义。这些不会变。

We are at the fifth year since the establishment of the school. Looking back at those hardships that we conquered at the very beginning, I am sincerely happy for our current development. Society is growing rapidly, and it requires the field of education to keep up with its pace. As educators, we also need to maintain our core values, especially those are related to the education philosophy at SCBS.

First, SCBS aims to cultivate students who not only have a regional, cultural and national identity with an international perspective but also enjoy good physical and mental health, curiosity and creativity. Secondly, our goal is to become a first-class school that is bilingual and bicultural. Thirdly, the ethos of SCBS is “Harmony, Trust and Decency”, which are the values we hold at all times.

在我过去的30多年教育经验中，常常被问到教育理念这个话题，我总结下来一共有三个关键词语，那就是严谨（rigour）、善良（kindness）以及能动性（flexibility）。

首先，严谨，可体现在学术严谨、学生行为规范的严谨以及其他方方面面。学生的成长尚未定型，他们需要一个严谨的教育环境，需要被培育，并且朝着更高的目标奋进。严谨往往伴随着压力，因此我们在实践过程中还需要友善，来寻求平衡。

Neil Hawkins Global Principal of Concord College International

Over the past 30 years in my career, I am often asked about my understanding of education. I believe that there are three key words: rigor, kindness, flexibility.

Firstly, rigour can be found in various aspects, including academic and student behaviour. Students need a rigourous environment to be cultivated, so that they can pursue further goals. Rigour usually comes along with pressure; therefore, we also treat our students with kindness to our students to keep the balance.

友善不代表没有原则，它是张弛有度的。在该给鼓励的时候就给出鼓励，这意味着我们把每一位学生视为独立的个体并给予尊重，在意识到学生有改进空间时则及时指出。友善也意味着做到将心比心，我们要构建一个学生能够感到安全、舒适、重视以及有归属感的学校，这将助力于他们的成长。

最后一点是能动性。我们都意识到，课程的设计具有时间上的滞后性。我们现在所教授的知识和技能均汲取于过往的经验，而我们要培养是能适应未来的人才。因此，学校的教育要能促使他们发挥创造力或能动性内化和运用当下所教授的知识和技能，最终成为能解决未来产生的新问题的人。

另外一个好消息。康德双语的新任学术副校长James Stubbert也会在这个学期与师生家长见面。James此前一直在英国顶尖的私立学校担任教学管理职务，相信他的到来也会进一步带领学校老师，帮助学生们在学术能力上获得提升。

Kindness does not mean ignoring rules. We need to encourage the students when we see their progress, as they are considered as independent individuals. It is also necessary to point out their mistakes. Kindness also means to build a school in which students can feel safe and comfortable, which is beneficial for fostering a growth mindset.

Lastly, it is about flexibility. We all realise that what we are teaching to our students is the knowledge that is based on past experience. However, we have to educate talents for the future. Therefore, the school needs to promote their creativity, so that they can become someone who can solve problems in the future.

In other good news, Mr. James Stubbert, our new Assistant Principal, Academic, has joined us this semester. James has rich experience in academic management, and we believe he will lead our teachers to further promote our students’ academic ability.

不断提升，追求品质校园

为了让同学们在新的学年有更好的学习环境，康德双语的校园也在暑假期间进行了升级改造。

中学部全面装修了图书馆，从馆外到馆内都变得焕然一新。书籍的分类更为一目了然；同时，增设的多功能阅读区也能让同学们更舒适地享受在图书馆学习与阅读的时刻。

在原有的学习区基础上，本学期开始还有全新的电子查阅室供同学们使用。

We also updated our campuses for a better environment so that our students can enjoy better their time at school.

The Middle School fully furnished the Library; the new multi-purpose seating area provides a more comfortable way for our students to enjoy their reading.

From this semester, there will be a new computer room for our students to study and search online sources.

在小学部，连通着餐厅的“小花园”也将在本学期对同学们开放。除了户外活动空间变大了以外，翻新后的绿植也为孩子们提供了更为绿色、健康的校园环境。

我们本学期为一年级的小萌新们特别布置了教室——每间教室的椅子也根据不同学院的代表色进行了区分，让孩子们能快速识别并且融入自己的集体。

In the Primary School, the garden will be open to all of our pupils this semester. Our children can enjoy the spacious outdoor and a greener and healthier environment.

We specially arranged the classrooms for our new Grade 1 pupils— the chairs in each classroom are based on the House colours, so that our children can quickly get used to their new groups.
